A Geometric Affair

Geometric Dress / ASOS, Denim Jacket / Urban Outfitters, Leather Chucks / Converse, Bowler Hat / Dangerfield

Well after a busy time with family visiting last week, we had a bit of a low key weekend just to relax, spending some time together and get the house in order for our next load of visitors next week (feeling very popular with so many of our friends managing a trip over the ditch to come visit us!!!! Yay!!!).

I've been meaning to get out and get some snaps of this dress. I would like to say it's a recent purchase, but no, I've had it for a few months now, just been putting it off getting dressed up for photos. Lately I've been enjoying jumping in my hoodie, old pair of jeans and my leather chucks and just be as comfortable and as warm as possible, but today felt like dressing up a bit :) I have a not-so-secret love affair with geometry and patterns, so this little number has become a favourite of mine for sure. Too bad it turned out to be a super windy and chilly today that I couldn't get much enjoyment out of it outside haha!

Oh the things we do to feel nice ;)

Flamingo Fun.

Jacket l Urban Outfitters. Flamingo Dress l ASOS. Boots l Wittner. Sunglasses
Emporio Armani sunglasses c/o Vision Direct

Can I just say, I have flamingos on my dress. Flamingos! This for some reason is just something that makes me super happy! They just seem to be such happy and bright little things that's now splattered all over my dress and it absolutely, positively brightens my day. And a bonus was this weekend we had such lovely weather it was much easier to wear this out in the warm Autumn sun without layering up and covering up these pretty little birds. Making the most of these days before the rain hits us!

In other news, this week marked our first official year living it up in Melbourne! In the blink of an eye this year has come and gone and I cannot believe we've been away from home for so long. To tell you the truth, it doesn't quite feel like it's been a year, as it's so easy to keep in contact with friends back home these days that some times it feels like I'm sitting in their lounges, enjoying a cup of tea and a good chat (thank God for social media sites and entertaining communication apps!!). We've been rather blessed as well to have had a handful of family and friends come visit so far, with a whole bunch still planned for later this year. Makes life so much easier knowing they are only a 3.5 hour flight away ;)

Hello Sailor.

Striped Batwing Shirt l ASOS, Boyfriend Blazer l ASOS, Skinny Jeans l Just Jeans, House of Harlow necklace,
Nixon watch, Emporio Armani sunglasses l c/o Vision Direct, Double Chain Bracelet l ASOS, Kenji Black Heels l Myer

Mail days are the best. When the darling postman turns up with a package that's got your name on it, it turns that day in to the best one of the week! Lucky for me, that day was yesterday and I got treated with some new additions to my wardrobe. And while the weather is still pretty nice here in Melbourne, I snapped at the chance to get some photos this afternoon. I have to admit, stripes reminds sailors a bit, but I thought, why not dress it up with the blazer as well - which is rather perfect as you can keep it casual or spice it up depending on the occasion.

On a side note, it's my birthday next week (wink, wink) and I'm still not too sure what we are doing for my party...all I've done so far was get everyone to save the date! And since it's my 25th and first birthday away from home, I want to do something a bit special.... So if anyone has any bright ideas, shoot 'em my way please! Would be forever grateful :)

Casabella Lane.

Polka Dot Shirt l ASOS, Denim Shorts l Glassons, Necklace l Half Half, Watch l Nixon, Sunglasses l c/o Vision Direct

One of my favourite little spots in our hometown would have to be the lovely Casabella Lane. Lined with beautiful boutiques, the local art supplies store and the best sushi in Hamilton, it's a place we love to visit and had to stop by on our recent holiday. Turns out, it was a public holiday so a lot of the shops were closed (which in my opinion is wonderful! After working years in retail, I am all for having stores closed on public holidays, we all know retailers need a break too!) but it was still just as lovely wandering down the little lane and capture some snaps from our favourite spot in town.

Bird Print.

Bird Print Shirt & Shorts l Topman
Sunglasses l Le Specs

Now that our days are warmer and our evenings longer, Neil and I have been wandering our neighbourhood a whole lot more. Exploring the streets and cul de sacs, as well as wandering down to the river, which we found out is actually really close to our house, has become a regular outing.

I know I don't usually feature my husband on the blog, but today he looked so dashing, I just couldn't resist. With this amazing Bird Print shirt we scored from Topman a couple of weeks ago, I've been on the lookout for some more awesome casual shirts for him. If any of you ladies like to dress your men too, have a look at Flannels Designer Menswear. I've been stalking this site a bit these last couple of weeks, as there are some fantastic designer items which I know will be perfect for Neil (there are a great collection of shirts which I am particularly interested in!). Possibly still not to late if you still need some gift ideas for your man ;)

Wandering.

Jersey l ASOS
Leopard shirt l Lower
Skirt l Revival
Ray Ban Sunglasses c/o Vision Direct
Tote Bag l My Shop
Shoes l Jo Mercer

What a jam packed weekend it's been! We've been wandering the streets of Melbourne and stopped at way too many some incredible places that have THE most incredible food! More on that later on in the week though :)

I've been trying to slowly start getting a Christmas shopping list together to get organised. With the excitement of heading home for Christmas (only five more weeks till we are back in NZ!), I want to come home with some epic gifts, however with only being able to take 7kg carry-on each, we are going to be slightly limited on what we can actually get. So any ideas you might have that is going to be light-weight and small(er), please throw them my way! Has anyone already started their shopping??

Anyway, so I haven't done an outfit post in a while and thought it about time! I had to share this darling and simple black skirt I managed to pick up a couple weeks ago. Now you might think, wow that's a pretty standard skirt...but that's where your wrong! I've been looking HIGH and LOW for a skirt that actually reaches my knees. Is it just me, or are modest length skirts going extinct?? Every skirt I managed to find previously was way too short to feel comfortable wearing to work, so I was more than happy when I finally managed to find one! Sometimes I think I am the only one that struggles with this?

Shaded.

Polka Dot Shirt via ASOS l Ray Ban Sunglasses Cats 1000 c/o Vision Direct

Best chill weekend. Our shipment from New Zealand arrived on Friday, so of course I had a blast going through all the boxes late into the night, personalizing our house a little bit more and making it feel like home. It was just such an incredible feeling going through our 'life' that has been in storage for nearly ten months and finding so many memories in there. Such a happy/sad moment as it made me rather homesick. Boo!

Today we managed to spend a lot of time outside, as the sun has decided to show it's lovely face again. Gave me a great opportunity to try out my new Ray Ban Sunglasses Cats 1000. I'm not used to bigger sunglasses, but when I saw these sunglasses with the awesome cats eye corners, I fell in love! Yup, this will be a regular pick for my summer days :)

Bring on summer with it's awesome bright sunny days!
P.S. Pretty darn happy to be wearing my jandals again too!

Closet Troubles.

Asos White Lace Dress l Asos
Ray Ban Clubmasters l c/o Vision Direct
Carnelian Ring l Najo
Carnelian & Lapis Lazuli Bracelet l Najo

Uhh, I've just had one of those weekends where I looked at my closet and just wanted to cry! I've tried on a thousand different pieces but unhappy with every single one. And it doesn't help when you are pressed for time to catch the next tram and you have nothing to wear! Lucky, I have a few trusting pieces that always seems to do the trick (this little number being once of them).

This just really made me get more excited for our shipment to finally arrive from NZ, as I know there are a few other clothing items stashed in there somewhere. But this weekend has also given me a great reason to get into sewing! This is how I see it, once I get started, I can make whatever I want (given that it needs to be very simple to start with) and always have something new to wear. I may be speaking too soon, but it's a great goal to have...right?

I suppose we will have to wait and see on that one ;)

She Said.

Sequins collar dress, Asos. Heart elbow jumper, Asos. Clubmaster sunglasses c/o Vision Direct. Miss Shop booties, Myer. Cross drops, Me Collection.

Like I mentioned in my previous post, we couldn't pass this graffiti wall without taking some snaps. This outfit I have been wearing to death ever since I got it, something about the sequins and the little hearts that just does it for me!

I have been trying to tame the shopping a little bit since we got to Melbourne (how do you do it here??) as we still have to set up our home from scratch again. And getting there slowly! I have been getting requests to feature a few home shots, so hoping to get some snaps up in the next week for you all :)

He Said.

This weekend has been filled with socializing, relaxing, ultimate frisbee and shopping (our empty home is still in need of a bit of love, so every week we try and buy something for the home, using Look Again home shopping catalogues). Neil and I love having people over at ours, so from Thursday through to Saturday we were happily playing hosts to our guests, filling their bellies with braai's (South African BBQ), catching up on some Olympics and generally just having a good time!

Yesterday as we were making our way to the markets, we couldn't go past this incredible graffiti wall without taking some snaps. That's one thing about living in Melbourne that will never get old for me, is seeing art in all forms around the city - whether that's with graffiti, sculptures, buildings (truelly, there are some masterpieces around the place!) or posters. Incredible!

I love this place :)

The Clubmaster.

A couple of weeks ago a package arrived on my doorstep that I couldn’t have been more excited about. The sunglasses that I have adored for the past 6 months, has finally made its way into my hands.

The Clubmaster. Not only does it have a name that stands out above the rest, they are very chic in design and reign in quality. I have always wanted a pair of sunglasses that were more delicate in looks, without it being fragile, and The Clubmaster offers all that, with no doubts about their sturdiness or lifespan. They are my top choice from the Ray Ban collection!

So thank you to the sweet folk at Vision Direct for sponsoring me a pair of these! With such speedy service and quality product, I will be back for more!

Button Up.

Coat - Myer. Shoes - Jo Mercer.

The last few weeks have been cooling down incredibly! If I don't venture outside the doors of our house with at least three layers of clothes and a scarf, I most likely will freeze to death. It did make me feel slightly better when I heard that this is one of the coldest winters Melbourne has seen in a while, so at least then surely I am not over reacting (...or maybe I am? I don't know, I wasn't made for cold weather!). All I can say is I am keeping buttoned up this winter!

Clockwork Orange.

Neil
Shirt l Slyguild
Shorts l Hallensteins
Shoes l Converse

Ilana
Dress l ASOS
Shoes l Wildpair

So this week I got super excited when this cute little dress arrived that I roped Neil  into coming to take some photos with me. One thing that I absolutely love about this little number, is that the spots match my favourite orange heels perfectly! I have such a love for orange at the moment, so probably got a little bit too excited when the shades actually matched.

Have a lovely weekend all! I shall be making the most of the sunshine and spending some good quality time with my best friendie this weekend! Joyyyyy!!!

Ring o' Rosie.

Dress - Modcloth l Shoes - Wildpair l Watch - DKNY l Bracelet - Me Collection l Bag - Asos

I've never really been a fan of the colour red - sure it's got some great connotations for love, passion and other strong emotions - however, I've just never managed to wear red and be happy with it. That was until I spotted this cute little number on Modcloth and couldn't resist giving it go. And I can safely say that I am happy I did! With the cute flower patterns and the adorable collar, it's quickly become a favourite of mine.

I suppose you never know for sure whether you like something or not until you try it! :)
- that goes out especially to my husband, try new foods! ;)
