The Finders Keepers.

The first time I heard about The Finders Keepers markets, I got so extremely jealous of everyone that could attend them. A market filled full of beautiful handmade jewellery and clothes, inspiring art and an awesome variety of stationary. Now, two years on, I've attended my first market and loved it! Neil and I managed to head over there after work on Friday night and the place was buzzing! With live music filling the air and the smell of fast food, it created a wonderful atmosphere.

There are just too many places to list that I loved, but my highlights would have to be A Skulk of Foxes with their amazing iPhone/iPad cases, Lauren Carney's incredible art, Inky Co with their lovely stationary and Frankie with...well with all their Frankie goodness! All too lovely :)

Alice by Emily Winfield Martin.

These art prints by Emily Winfield Martin are absolutely gorgeous! This is her version of Alice in Wonderland through illustration and I think she did such a wonderful job. It goes without saying that I completely fell in love with the White Rabbit, of coarse, as anything to do with bunnies and rabbits I am sold out to.

You an order prints by themselves, or buy the handy pack of 12 postcards to get the complete Alice In Wonderland collection.

Your Crazy Emotional Needs Give My Life Purpose.

Oh how darling sweet are these lasercut design?
Owly Shadow Puppets have the sweetest collection of beautiful designs such as these, but also they have the cutest shadow puppet designs too which would make for a perfect gift for the young ones!

I have finally received my very own screenprinting frame yesterday as well, so I am extremely determined to get started and have a play with my new frame this weekend. Anyone have any suggestions/ideas when it comes to screenprinting? I will let you all know how it goes :)

Chalkboard Artist.

Found via Freshly Blended.

How incredible is this? Dana Tanamachi is a graphic designer and custom chalk letterer that lives in Brooklyn, New York. I am amazed at the dedication in creating these pieces with chalk, what skill! What blew me away is when you watch her time-lapse videos, where you actually see the process in creating these pieces. So I have decided, our home WILL have a chalkboard wall. I definitely want to try my hand at this (eventhough I don't think I would have the patience or the steady hand to create such big, clear & precise pieces).

Froschkind.

Okay, so been stuck at home all day with the sickness, so haven't had the most pleasant of days. But thank goodness for home made pumpkin soup that always seems to make me feel better.

That, plus these beautiful prints by Froschkind! It definitely brightened my day I must say. I think I particularly love these prints, as it is so similar to the style of design I would say I do. Absolutely love seeing mixed media and the scrapbook look!

In other news, Neil had his first couple of days in the jewellery store, and went really well! I wasn't too sure how people would respond to a guy serving them in our store, but luckily he's so loveable he did so well :) But a bit of encouragement always helps for that too! (He's got twitter, so make sure you share the love!) Okay, off to wrap up myself in a blanket and warm up with tea!

She posted these pictures from a gorgeous 1st birthday party she designed the invites for, illustrated and helped style for these gorgeous twin girls. Talented, wouldn't you say? :)

I will climb.

"I challenged myself today to do this. Once every week, I hope to create a new design.
I don't know what it is about typography, graphic design and illustrations that can move me in an incomprehensible way. Today, I commence." - Andre Bohrer.

Guest Post: Oh My Cavalier!

Hi readers, my name is Dane and I write a blog called Tornadoes and Tigers.
Ilana has been a friend of mine for many years now, I studied graphic design with her a little while back and her husband was even a groomsman in my wedding!

Today I thought I'd share with you all Julianna Swaney of Oh My Cavalier! She is an illustrator and artist based in Portland Oregon, who is inspired by fairy tales, animals with sharp claws, antique ephemera and postcards among other things. Her Etsy shop offers a range of unique gift cards and tags. Also I'm really enjoying the mechanical animal paper dolls featured above : )

Anyway I hope you enjoy these goodies and are having an amazing week!

Thanks for having me Ilana

We had everything.

Now this is a real treat. These wonderful creations by Rob Ryan definitely made my day! I am such a fan of paper cut out illustrations, and when I saw that Rob incorporated his designs into plates, tiles, cushions, screenprints and art prints, I knew he was worth sharing. His website is a must visit, and I must say I am fond of the bright highlight colours and simple layout design is enough to keep me on there for hours.

Well I am off to see The Sound of Music production tonight, so will be enjoying an evening of sing along fun and sweet childhood memories :)

Introducing: Spirit Hearts

Introducing Spirit Hearts, Emma Fourie's first series! Wow, such a super proud friend at the moment, as I have watched this come together over the past few months and now it is all done :) Time to get your hands on these beauties, so head over to Emma's blog and start pre-ordering. They will be available in prints and postcard sets.

I am completely in love with the bunny of coarse (guess who makes an appearance in that print) and the owl is just stunning with all it's detail!

Collaborations.

Since last year (from this post), I've been loving Shanna Murray's work, and am so excited that she is doing collaborations throughout the year with a number of people to create these monthly desktops. So you can find a little freebie of her work every month!

Do you guys like these desktop freebies? (Another great one to look out for is Tabitha Emma's!) I am thinking, when a bit more time becomes available, to maybe do some of these again :)

I Heart The Arctic.

Such sweetness, Jacqueline Bos is such a talented craft-maker (like in this post where I featured some of her little crafts) and illustrator and I am completely in love with this little zine she created which I found via Home Collection. I have finally started doodling more in my notebook and incorporated some of that in a recent newsletter design which I might share next week :) When I see artists like these, it just inspires me to draw more!

The Sketchbook Project.

Heard of The Sketchbook Project yet? I love the concept behind this project and cannot wait to see photos of the exhibition when it launches in March. Basically, you could sign up to the project and be sent the same Moleskin notebook as every other artist. All you are required to do is use the notebook in any way or form, keeping it's same dimensions, and send it back to be exhibited in The Sketchbook Project which will be traveling all across the States. This is an example of Mette Hornung Rankin's sketchbook which I absolutely adored.
