New Additions.

The best part of working in our little shop is trying on the newest additions as they land in store. One of my favourite designer brands, A&C, had their latest collections come in these last two weeks and I have been drooling over the Brown Feather collection! So hard to resist taking these pieces home with me!

Today is a good day to start.

Today I felt rather productive. Some of you might know a month or so ago I bought a cheap second hand screen printing frame so I could start to do some projects myself. Well...the frame has just been sitting under my bed gathering dust until I decided it's about time I actually learn the art of screen printing. Now obviously there is a proper way to screen print (burning the image onto the frame)...however I am being cheeky and trying a cheaper way of doing it by cutting out a stencil. So today, as a trial run, I cut out a very simple image on a transparent paper and will be using that on the frame. This weekend I will dedicate the time to actually trial it for real (just need to go buy me a squeegee and some inks). So fingers crossed friends, I am hoping this works! Will share the results with you later.

Also sporting some of my favourite items in store at the moment - cannot get enough of the Najo brand! Wowza, I would like to please take home the whole cabinet's worth of stuff!

If any of you lovely folk have any advise for a young aspiring screenprinter, please do share! I want to see how it goes with this stencil, but if it fails I will need to invest in a proper UV light and some emulsion to do it properly. Eeek! Fingers crossed!

Seriously, my favourite part of new stock, is getting to try them all on...and secretly want to stuff them all in my pockets so I can wear them home. Oh such joy!

Also, so exciting to share with you all (yes everyone internationally too!) you can now purchase some of our favourite and top selling items from our facebook store. We so appreciate all of your support in helping our little shop grow, so feel free to spread word around or join us on facebook :) And of coarse, if you are in town (that is, Hamilton) come visit us! If you have been following my blog for a while, you will know that I am involved with running this beautiful little jewellery and giftware store. Since we don't have an online store yet, I thought it fun to showcase some of my favourite pieces every now and again. And lucky I have gorgeous Amanda working with me, as we always have a bit of fun scanning through the shop finding little treasures to wear.

Also, got a little surprise from Amanda today, which I just had to share as well...a yummy sweet treat from Amanda's baking adventures yesterday, a French Macaron! And boy, can I say that was devine! My first taste of a Macaron, so I am looking forward to making these babies soon too :)

Stitch my heart.

How's this for unique! What an incredible necklace idea by Vector Cloud to create a "make your own design" within a necklace! This cross stitch heart comes with a handy manual of ways you can cross stitch your heart, as well as providing you with the alphabet in cross stitch so you can create your own words and phrases.

Welcome to my Wonderland

Well friends, they are finally here!

Here are some snippets of our little store - Rox at The Base. These last few weeks we have had little sleep, but I am happy to say, for the final outcome it was worth it! If you are ever in Hamilton, New Zealand, make sure you pop by :)It's been crazy fun, as Emma (from But Honestly) and her husband, and my hubby and I, are set on making this the best store! We have a lot of exciting things coming up (like House of Harlow arriving in stores in September *yay*!) so it's a pure joy to share my "second home" with you.

Happy!

Mama's Little Babies

(credit)

Handmade+vintage= some of the best finds!

These are the sweetest little illustration jewellery pieces that I have come across and I am so in love. So dreamy, aren't they? How I wish I could draw such pretty things and make them into even prettier things! I guess I will always be a bit of a sucker when it comes to jewellery, I can never get enough :) It's much easier to spend less money on clothes, and more on accessories to create completely new looks and outfits (which is also why I love scarves so much!).
