Judge a book by it's cover.

(jelens)

Okay, so I know this sounds bad, but it's true(in my opinion): I always judge books by their covers. Always. If the cover doesn't appeal to me, I probably won't read it! I don't know if it's just the designer in me that cries out for creative cover concepts, or whether I am just being picky.

Also, thanks to everyone's great recommendations on books! I am taking them all into consideration next time I am standing in front of the Penguin Classics shelf :)

  1. I do exactly the same thing and I also get quite upset when a book doesn't live up to it's cover.

  2. I am guilty as well...usually I will read quite fascinating stories that I never would have read had the cover not been interesting.

  7. I'm a total bibliophile, but I still definitely judge a book by its cover. Maybe it's the designer in me as well. I figure they designed it to appeal to a certain audience, so if the cover doesn't appeal to me...neither will the book, right?

    I love a pretty book :)

  10. Yup, guilty too! If it isn't a book that someone really recommended to me, I just chose by the cover and the title. I live in Europe and I was so disappointed when I went to Canada because American books all have different kinds of covers and a lot of them are like... bad.
